Review - TRESemme's Fresh Start Dry Shampoo--for oily/straight tonormal hair

Alright! So, now I am doing yet another review on another hair product. There's nothing better than having your beautiful red hair color washing out of your hair and running down the drain, and you're just seeing it and thinking to yourself "Why is my hair colour running down the drain?! All that hard work for nothing!"

Yes, all that hard work is for nothing when you don't take care of your red hair. Every time you wash your hair with or without a sulfate free shampoo, your colour will still run. Especially if you have red hair.

So today, I am going to be doing a review on DRY SHAMPOO! This helps with keeping in your colour! If you wash your hair, you will know that when your hair is wet, the colour will still drain--especially if it's red! So if you are trying to prolong the colour from fading so fast, use a dry shampoo! And the one I have is the one from TRESemme.

I know people who see this picture know what I'm talking about, and I bet you all can relate to it too. Red hair as you all know is the fastest fading hair colour.

By the way, the picture above is not me. . . I just took it off of google!

Basically, how I use this hair spray is just shaking up the bottle a couple times, and then I just spray it on my parting, and then all over my hair line. It basically helps to absorb the disgusting odour, oil and smell. I don't section my hair and then spray it, I basically just spray at the most noticeable parts of my hair.

So now that I have told you about this product, I'm going to tell you the pros and the cons of this product!

Pros

This product is GREAT for absorbing oils, and nasty odour. You know, that smell that you get from being out all day? Pollutants, and odors cling onto dirty, oily hair the most and linger. Using dry shampoo helps to eliminate that odour, or at least most of it. It's also cheap too! I bought this on sale for $3.99 + HST = roughly 13% so it was about... $4.51 CAD?

Cons

This product makes your hair look gray for a minute or two, but when you start to brush it through, rub it a bit, it helps in the end to get rid of the grayish/whiteness left on your hair. It's just a bit annoying. The next bad thing about this product is that you can't bring this onto an airplane, or submarine because it is an aerosol can after all, and for people who are environmentally friendly will not like these cans because THEY DESTROY THE OZONE LAYER!

Something(s) to know

Don't use this EVERY single day. You MUST wash your hair after using this after once or twice because this is just powder that is meant to extend the amount of days you can go without washing your hair as often.  Also, this stuff will build up if you always use this continuously every single day, and then by that time you should probably use a clarifying shampoo. It will get rid of all the buildup.

Overall, I think this product works well and absorbs the oil and odour that is left lingering on your hair and it does a great job with keeping your hair smelling not SO bad. I would definitely give this product a 4/5 mainly because I don't believe that this product is my HOLY GRAIL product. Speaking of which, I will be doing a post on my current HG products.

Hopefully you all enjoyed reading this post! Stay tuned for further posts!

Tah-tah for now!

Want Red Hair? Already Have Red Dyed Hair? I'm going to tell you how to keep your red hair from fading so fast!

Hey everyone!

So, as you can already see from the title of this post I want to share with you all on how I take care of my red hair!

As you probably know by now, red hair is notorious for fading the fastest! Yet, at the same time it also stains like crazy!

If you guys want to know how I got my hair red, here is the link to how I got my hair the colour I have now. I have pics so you can see what the before and after look like!

Okay, so before I dive into giving you all tips on how to get red hair or how to keep your hair red, let me tell you about the red hair dye itself. Red is the fastest fading colour out of any other colour synthetic wise. Their particles are really small so that they can enter the hair shaft through the cuticle easily, but unlike other hair colours where they go into the hairs shaft, the red molecules don't EXPAND as much as other hair dye colours. You'll probably know that if you dyed your hair brown, or have friends who have dyed their hair brown the colour doesn't fade as fast as other colours. Why? Because brown hair molecules are fairly small too, but when they get into the hair shaft, they EXPAND and then it makes it really hard for the colour to "leak" out. Brown I believe is the slowest fading colour. Blonde, just gets brassy!

Also, the red colour spectrum is fairly large ranging from copper to auburn and beyond. Copper, is the colour that doesn't fade easily. It's usually the "base" colour for reds and you'll notice that intense red hair colours fade immensely fast! But copper won't fade as fast.

Alright, so now I'll tell you all about how to take care of your red dyed hair!

Tip #1

Wash your hair in cold water!

Trust me! You'll regret not washing your hair in cold water. Cold water closes the cuticle so the hair dye doesn't run out as fast. With reds, the hair colour will always be draining out... your bath tub will look like a murder crime scene! Unless you clean it often. I clean mine usually every other day but after a while when the red colour doesn't run as much, I clean it once a week with vinegar. I always use vinegar for cleaning any surface area in my house.

Tip #2

Use colour treated shampoo!

If you don't wash your hair with a shampoo that is meant for colour treated hair, then you're just wasting your money, time and effort on your red hair. Dying your hair red is a true commitment, just like having kids. You have to take care of it! I will do a review on what shampoos and conditioners I use very soon.

Tip #3

Colour depositing shampoo and/or conditioner!

Really, there is no point in just using a shampoo for colour treated hair especially if you have red hair. Even with a colour treated shampoo, your hair colour will still fade, just not AS fast as if you weren't using a colour treated shampoo. Personally, I wash my hair with a good sulfate free moisturizing shampoo meant for colour treated hair, and then I mix my special effects in the colour "nuclear red" and I just slap it on my damp, towel dried hair after rinsing the shampoo out, and then I leave it on for about 10 minutes. People say 3-5 minutes, but I don't really care. I leave it on longer because I feel it helps the colour to really get set into my hair. After that, I rinse it out.

I know at my one hair salon I always go to to buy products, sells davinus I believe that's how you spell it. Anyways, that brand makes colour depositing shampoos and conditioners for red hair colours ranging from copper, to red, auburn and they also make brown hair colours too. They basically just deposit hair colour into your hair and shampooing away the oils and dirt at the same time.

Tip #4

Don't wash your hair everyday!

Seriously don't. You can't expect to get a bright red hair colour to last until your next appointment to the salon or whatever by washing your hair every day or every other day. You are just DREAMING! I wash my hair usually 2-3 times a week! I will never ever wash my hair everyday!

Tip #5

Use oils and other UV protectant products on your hair!

Ive already mentioned my hair oils to you all already, so you basically know what the oils do to your hair. Or, what they do to my hair that is. . .

If you go out into the sun during the day time, the sun's powerful UV rays damage your body! No matter what people say, too much UV will cause you to look really tan and disgusting in my opinion. I'm against tanning! Sorry, to anyone who likes tanning!

Using a good UV protectant on your hair is really helpful because the UV rays wont be able to touch your hair strands, and damaging them. It'll just simply reflect off of your hair, and out into the abyss again. Red hair, will fade very fast and look dull if you don't protect your hair with a UV protectant!

I also use the AG's liquid varnish too, and it's a silicone based hair product so it helps to keep the UV rays from damaging my hair, and my precious hair colour. (More AG product reviews to come!)

So basically you know all about how to keep your hair red!
